I’m Kim, the owner and builder at Prima. When I say “builder,” I mean it. I’m not just a manager in an office; I’m the one on-site, on the tools, doing the detailed work myself.

I know that starting a major remodel is a huge decision. It’s disruptive, it’s a major investment, and for many people, it’s just plain scary.
My goal at Prima Construction is to change that entire experience.
A Higher Standard of Care
Many of our clients—including members of the LGBTQ+ community and women who have had uncomfortable or traumatic experiences with male contractors—tell us they specifically sought out a woman-owned company. I am incredibly proud to provide a safe, respectful, and empowering space for every client.
But I don’t want to be hired just because I’m a woman. I want to be hired because I’m the best person for the job.
My passion for this work is built on a foundation of design (I have two college degrees in architecture), but my real love is the hands-on craft of building. Our model is different: my husband, Scott, leads much of the design, and I lead the build. (We always giggle at trade shows when they try to send me to the “design talk” and him to the “construction talk”).

I’m not inexpensive, and I know you deserve to get what you paid for. I don’t subcontract the critical parts; I do the work myself to ensure the highest standard. I may not have the brute strength of some guys, so I’ve just learned to work smarter, with more precision and a relentless work ethic.

My favorite part of this job is guiding clients who are nervous or can’t quite see the final vision. Remodeling your home is personal. I love sitting down with the whole family, talking through every detail, and helping you feel comfortable, educated, and excited. I’m here to care for you, your family, and even your dog, every step of the way.
